Ingredients:

1     pound         very lean beef or venison
                    ground or chopped
3/4   pound         suet
                    or ground
1     pound         black currants
1     pound         golden raisins
1     pound         dark raisins
1     cup           chopped glazed pineapple
1     cup           chopped glazed cherries
1     cup           chopped glazed mixed fruits
2     cups          brown sugar
2     cups          finely-chopped peeled cored apple
1/4   cup           fresh lemon juice
1/2   cup           dry sherry
2     cups          cognac
1/2   teaspoon      ground nutmeg
1 1/2 teaspoons     ground cinnamon
1/2   teaspoon      ground allspice
1/2   teaspoon      ground cloves
                    Grated peel of 1 orange
                    Grated peel of 1 lemon
1/2   teaspoon      salt
Directions: one line for each direction. When saved the lines will be numbered.
  1. Mix all ingredients together and place in a large crock or glass jar. Cover and let stand in refrigerator at least 1 month before using. If mixture becomes dry at any time, add more sherry.
